These two weeks are our very busiest of the season.
The last week of March and the first week of April are always the two weeks filled with the most activity. Everything kind of shifts into high gear at this time and generally, our biggest obstacle is mailing out paper to those clients that require hard copies. Not only is mailing paper one of the most labor-intensive tasks, it is also quickly becoming a cost driver.
Our Telephone Traffic Last Week
For the week ending Saturday March 25th my telephone system managed 803 calls (330 incoming and 473 outgoing calls). I expect the number of telephone calls to exceed 1,000 per week for the coming two weeks, which is normal.
Speaking of Normal, Unremarkable is Certainly Not a Term that can be Applied to this Season
In the front office, we have managed very well with three personnel rather than four. Finding seasonal staff has become next to impossible. In the Tax Department, we have managed extremely well without a Document Management Specialist. Usually, we have a person whose sole job function is to scan client documents and ensure that the documents are properly stored.
The only solution to the scanning issue, was to buy Cannon desktop scanners. Seven people cannot be standing in line at the Konicka Minolta Biz Hub. For the most part, this new process has worked well.

As we head into the final stretch of the Tax Season, please be patient with the staff and know that we are working very hard and looking out for the best interest of all of our clients.
