Happy Thanksgiving

Our office will be closed Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Thanksgiving is a cherished holiday in the United States, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November each year. It originated as a harvest festival, tracing its roots back to 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans shared a feast in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This meal marked a celebration of the Pilgrims’ first successful harvest in the New World, symbolizing gratitude, collaboration, and survival in a challenging environment. Over time, Thanksgiving evolved into a national holiday that embodies themes of thankfulness, togetherness, and reflection.

Today, Thanksgiving is a time for families and friends to come together, often around a meal featuring roast turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Many households incorporate traditions like expressing gratitude before the meal, volunteering to help those in need, or participating in local food drives. The day is also known for parades, such as the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and for being the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season. Thanksgiving traditions reflect a blend of historical influences and modern customs, making it a uniquely American celebration.

Beyond the festivities, Thanksgiving offers an opportunity to pause and appreciate the blessings in life, both big and small. It encourages mindfulness and gratitude, values that resonate deeply in a fast-paced, often stressful world. For many, it is not only a day of feasting but also a time for meaningful connections and introspection. As families gather to share meals and stories, Thanksgiving fosters a sense of unity and reminds people of the importance of compassion, generosity, and community.
