Today is Saturday May 7th, the big day.

My wife Pam is hosting a Bridal Shower at our home for Brittani Berbette, the oldest daughter of Dorisa Miller, Pam’s best friend growing up and all through high school. Dorisa introduced Pam and I to each other a hundred years ago, in fact she set us up on a blind date.
Needless to say, Pam and I wanted to do anything to help make this day special for Brittani. Yesterday I was performing one of the manly chores for the event. I drove to the bakery in Cullman to pick-up the rolls.
Arriving at Flavors exactly at 2 o’clock as instructed, I saw a tour bus from Huntsville pull up, 40 little old ladies came barreling off the bus, and with all the vigor of firemen heading to a fire, they poured into that bakery single file.
So I’m standing in line behind 40 women when I notice Gerri is in the group, about three people ahead of me. She is one of the sweetest ladies I know. I’ve known her for 30 years. So I tap her on the shoulder, spin her around and give her a big hug. Well, four or five of her lady friends start giggling like high school girls and one friend Patsy, whips out her iPhone and takes our picture. Patsy said “give me your number and I’ll text the photo to you.”
Sometimes in life, when you are under a little stress and pressed for time, an interruption comes along, and if you just go with it, life can be good.

I know Brittani and Mark are probably feeling a lot of stress and pressure as the wedding day approaches. Those are the words I would share with them.
As I was standing in that line that reached the door at the bakery, listening to those ladies discussing the pastries and asking questions, I realized it may be half an hour before I reached the counter to tell them I was there to pick up the Bridal Shower order. Then I saw Gerri and I’m telling you, that was an ordeal that I will long remember. Even now as I type this, it brings a smile to my face.
Tax Season ended on April 18th this year and when I awoke on April 19th Pam let me know we only had 19 days to prepare for this Bridal Shower. I have so many more stories to tell. This is literally the first opportunity I’ve had to sit down and write a post.
My job today was for me and my two dogs to vacate the premises. So we are at the office and I have to go because Roscoe is telling me he needs to go outside. More from my Journal.
