The facts and circumstances at issue here surrounding the testimony before Congress regarding the lost IRS Emails are of great concern to me.
I believe this matter to be every bit as serious as the Watergate scandal. I’m convinced we are witnessing political treachery, abuse of power and government resources at its worst. I’m afraid we, as a country have experienced and witnessed so much political debauchery over the years that we’ve become insensitive to it. Our mainstream media seems less eager to hold our government accountable these days.
The lost IRS Emails can be nothing other than a CYA COVERUP and a LIE, period!
In my business, with ten full-time and four part-time employees, we have eighteen computer workstations. Those workstations are viewed and treated as nothing more than noncritical disposable tools used to access the information on our critical servers and networked attached storage devices. No crucial data is stored on them.
Workstations are replaced at least every 36 months. In fact, I’ve replaced a workstation simply because Adobe released a new version of their software that would cost $400 to buy, when a new Dell workstation cost $800 and came with the software preloaded and licensed. Anyone who buys the story that Lois Lerner’s emails were stored on her workstation simply doesn’t understand how business computer networks are designed and built.
My $300,000 computer network pales in comparison to the IRS system which cost $9 Billion to upgrade a few years ago. But I guarantee that I can retrieve an email I sent or received in 2008, even if it had been deleted!
Not only could I retrieve a 2008 email. I can do it in one afternoon, not months or years (ridiculous) and I can do it without calling in any Special Forensic IT Support people. I almost spewed Diet Pepsi all over myself when I was home for lunch and saw the IRS Commissioner’s testimony on TV. Koskinen should be removed from that position based on his testimony provided to Congress.
I use the same system as the IRS for email, Microsoft Exchange Server and the workstations access email using the Microsoft Outlook Client. The emails are stored on the server not the workstation. The server is backed up multiple times and ways onsite and redundantly backed up off-site as well.
What would those lost emails tell us about the who, what, when and how?
We already know that the IRS targeted a political group (the what). We already know when it happened. I suspect that the missing emails might provide more insight into the methods (the how) as much as the people involved (the who).
At this point I’m more upset about the cover-up than the act.
