This season got off to a rocky and very bumpy start. There were major delays in the finalization of some State of Alabama forms. We were able to electronically file the tax returns, we just couldn’t print the client’s “Keep Copy.” The result was a backlog in our workflow for several weeks.
Friday March 10th will Mark the Halfway Point
We have already prepared more than 900 tax returns, which is indicative of being ahead of our normal numbers. Generally, I always look for us to hit 1,000 filings by the midway point (which is still 5 days away).
The coming 2 weeks will be filled with activity related to Partnerships and S-Corps, as we approach the March 15th filing deadline for those entities. If you own a pass-through company and have not yet provided your information to us, we may have to file an extension for you.
Telephone Traffic this Past Week
One of the activity indicators I monitor every tax season, is our telephone traffic. As always, the busiest days are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The lower call days are Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Brett Carpenter and Kaley Warren are Exceeding Expectations
This season I’m shadowing Brett and Kaley and these two are performing far better than I can at keying the data. Their relieving me of the data entry duties, allows me to focus more on the client’s tax position and outcome.
