{"id":1755,"date":"2017-03-08T06:19:05","date_gmt":"2017-03-08T12:19:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cookco.us\/news\/?p=1755"},"modified":"2017-03-07T10:30:13","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T16:30:13","slug":"interest-rates-remain-the-same-for-the-second-quarter-of-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cookco.us\/news\/interest-rates-remain-the-same-for-the-second-quarter-of-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Interest Rates Remain the Same for the Second Quarter of 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>The Internal Revenue Service announced that interest rates will remain the same for the calendar quarter beginning April 1, 2017.<\/h1>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The rates will be:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>four (4) percent for overpayments [three (3) percent in the case of a corporation];<\/li>\n<li>1 and one-half (1.5) percent for the portion of a corporate overpayment exceeding $10,000;<\/li>\n<li>four (4) percent for underpayments; and<\/li>\n<li>six (6) percent for large corporate underpayments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Under the Internal Revenue Code, the rate of interest is determined on a quarterly basis.\u00a0 For taxpayers other than corporations, the overpayment and underpayment rate is the federal short-term rate plus 3 percentage points.<\/h2>\n<div>Generally, in the case of a corporation, the underpayment rate is the federal short-term rate plus 3 percentage points and the overpayment rate is the federal short-term rate plus 2 percentage points. The rate for large corporate underpayments is the federal short-term rate plus 5 percentage points. The rate on the portion of a corporate overpayment of tax exceeding $10,000 for a taxable period is the federal short-term rate plus one-half (0.5) of a percentage point.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3>The interest rates are computed from the federal short-term rate determined during January 2017 to take effect February 1, 2017, based on daily compounding.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Internal Revenue Service announced that interest rates will remain the same for the calendar quarter beginning April 1, 2017.
